All through our life we have always been excited for Christmas for the gifts Santa will bring us and to decorate the Christmas tree which pretty trinkets. But have you ever though of how people around the world follow some crazy Christmas traditions ? Take a look

  1. Czech Republic

Every year on the Christmas Eve Day, all the single women in Czech Republic follow a specific unique tradition that helps them predict their love life in the coming year. All the single women face their backs to the door and throw a shoe. If the heel faces the door they will stay single and if the front of the shoe faces the door they will get married.

  1. Slovakia

In Sweden, at the beginning of the Christmas eve’s dinner, the head of the family takes a spoon of a traditional Christmas dish called Loksa and flips it up in the air. If the mixture stays glued to the ceiling the family will be blessed with richer crops. Weird isn’t it?

  1. Russia

In Russia, people celebrate Christmas on 7th January unlike other countries. This is because of the Julian calendar followed by the orthodox churches. On 6th January the families enjoy a Holy Supper, which consists of 12 dishes to honor the twelve apostles.

In Japan, people follow a weird tradition of having Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) for dinner. Don’t be surprised if you find the whole place to be reserved!

In Ireland, it is a tradition to leave mince pies and a bottle of Guiness as a snack for Santa.  Lucky Santa!
